Have been pondering this: I wonder if the acceptance of a new ethnic minority could be based upon their sporting/entertainment contributions to their new homeland. Basically media spotlights increases awareness and familiarity.

In NZ Polynesians have risen up as being very capable in the sporting arena in particular Rugby which has probably led to more of an acceptance! In the US the African Americans also have been the same with sports, and in the movie/music business.

Any thoughts?
