Want to gift something special for your loved ones? It would be more special and always remembered if you give handmade gifts rather than enormous, expensive gifts. One among such gifts is the fruit basket. Gifting a fruit basket not only shows your thoughtfulness, but also your uniqueness in presenting a gift. But, many of us hesitate to give fruit basket as gift, due to the fact that we are not aware how to make it.
Making a fruit basket is not as difficult as it appears to be. To start with, look for a perfect basket. Baskets are available in different shapes, colors, and sizes. Better choose big, fancy, colorful basket to make your gift look very stylish. The basket can be made up of wood, cane, glass, ceramic glass, thick paper, or straw. Choose the best make of basket and ensure that they are sturdy enough to carry the weight of the fruits. Baskets with handles are most preferable as you can easily carry while traveling.
Once your basket is ready, proceed with the decoration. Adding attractive colors of cloth or fabric to decorate your basket would enhance its appeal. Either you can stitch it to the basket or stick the fabric or cloth with the help of glue. Fruit baskets cannot be complete without ribbons. Add personal touch to your basket by sticking ribbons, streamers, bows, stars, or flowers on it. For more presentable gourmet fruit baskets, wrap two yards of ribbon around the basket handle. It would be nice if you place some straws or shredded brown paper in the empty basket bottom so that they serve as a good cushion to the fruits.
The next step is to choose the right gourmet fruit for your fruit basket. Choose fruits like apples, pomegranates, pears, red grapes, purple grapes, citrus fruits including mandarins, clementines, and satsumas, and finally nuts, say walnuts, almonds, and pecans. Match the color of the fruits with the basket to make an artistic display. Make sure that the fruits you purchase are firm and ripe enough, with attractive colors. Always select fruits that do not need refrigeration and those cannot be crushed easily. Dried fruits, though expensive, are great addition to fruit baskets.
Once you are done with the above steps, start arranging the fruits. Fruits that are larger in size should be placed at the bottom of the basket, and the smaller and delicate fruits should be arranged at the top of it. Arrange the fruits in such a way that you are able to come up with an eye catching presentation. Add an element of surprise to the receiver by keeping small notes or a gift card in between the fruits.
To give a final touch to your gourmet fruit basket, cover it with either transparent, cellophane, or handmade paper. You can even use colorful and decorative papers to make your fruit basket look fantastic. You can either leave your basket open or tie a small bow, flower, or star on the top of the gift. After all, making a fruit basket is not such a tedious job.
